The terms you accept when you install While25 Desktop. The short version: the software runs on your machine, your broker holds your money, your code is yours, stops only work while the app runs, and nobody can promise you a profit.
Last updated 26 September 2026
This licence agreement is between you and the individuals who operate While25(“While25”, “we”, “us”). It covers While25 Desktop and everything installed with it, including the local trading server, broker connectors, the bundled Python runtime and any updates (the “Software”). It works together with the terms of service and the privacy policy. By installing or using the Software you accept it.
We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable and revocable licence to install and use the Software on computers you own or control, for your own trading and research, while you have a While25 account in good standing and keep to this agreement and the terms. The Software is licensed, not sold, and is currently free of charge.
Your code is yours. Indicators, panels, strategies and scripts you write in the Software belong to you. We claim no ownership of them and do not use them to train models.
Unless this agreement or the law allows it, you may not:
These limits do not restrict any right the law gives you that cannot be waived by contract, or any right an open-source licence gives you over a component of the Software (see section 10).
We are not your broker. We hold no money or securities for you. Orders go from your computer to your broker using credentials you supply, under your agreement with your broker.
We give no investment advice and supply no strategies. Nothing in the Software is a recommendation, and we do not run any strategy for you. What runs is what you wrote, or what you asked the assistant to write and then reviewed and approved.
Market data is not ours. It comes from your broker or a data vendor, subject to their terms. We do not warrant that it is accurate, complete or timely, and you may not redistribute it.
Backtests are not results. A backtest simulates rules over past data, and paper trading results are not live trading results.
The Software needs a While25 account. It connects to our servers to sign you in, check your account status and plan, sync your data between computers and provide the AI assistant. Only one computer at a time may manage the same broker account. If your account is suspended or closed, or the Software cannot confirm your account, some or all of it may stop working.
When the local trading server stops, the stops, triggers and automations it holds stop working too (see section 8 of the terms).
The Software checks for updates and downloads them in the background. Each update is checked against our signing key before it is kept. Installing an update closes and reopens the Software; while it does, stops and automations held by the Software are not active. Some updates may be required to keep using the Software, and we may stop supporting older versions.
The Software stores data on your computer, including order and stop records, logs, settings and your scripts, and it keeps your broker keys in your operating system's credential store. Anyone who can use your computer account may be able to reach this data. Keeping your computer secure is your responsibility; anyone who has your broker credentials can trade your account.
The Software runs Python code that you write, import, or ask the assistant to write. That code is not sandboxed: it runs with the same permissions as your computer account, including access to your files and the internet, and packages you choose to install are downloaded from the Python Package Index. Only run code you trust.
Your broker credentials stay on your computer; they are not sent to us. You must keep to your broker's own terms. If your broker restricts third-party software, limits API use, or requires you to register an automated strategy or a static IP before running it, that is between you and your broker, and you must comply before you connect.
Trading carries a risk of loss, including loss greater than the amount you put in. Automated strategies can lose money quickly and without supervision. Code, yours or the assistant's, can contain mistakes. Software fails, connections drop, and brokers and exchanges reject, delay or mis-execute orders.
You are responsible for every order that leaves your computer, whether you clicked it or a strategy you started sent it; for the risk limits you set; for watching what you have running; and for trading lawfully. See the risk disclosure and the AI disclosure, which form part of this agreement.
The Software includes open-source and other third-party components, each licensed under its own terms, listed in the third-party notices and included with the Software. Nothing in this agreement limits the rights those licences give you. In particular, where a component is licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License, you may modify that component and reverse engineer the Software as far as needed to debug such modifications.
The Software includes Microsoft Visual C++ runtime files. You may use them only as part of the Software, and may not modify, reverse engineer or distribute them separately. Microsoft and its suppliers provide them “as is”, without warranty, and are not liable for damages arising from them.
You confirm that you are at least 18 and legally able to enter this agreement, that you will use the Software lawfully and in line with the acceptable use policy, that you hold whatever licences or registrations your own trading requires, and that you are not subject to sanctions or export controls that would prevent us dealing with you. You may not use or export the Software in breach of export control or sanctions laws.
The Software is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that it will be profitable, that any strategy will work, that results will match a backtest, that data will be accurate, or that orders or triggers will reach your broker or fire. Our liability is limited as set out in the no warranty and limitation of liability sections of the terms, which apply to this agreement too, including their exceptions for death, personal injury and fraud. If you are a consumer, you have legal rights this agreement does not affect.
You may stop at any time by uninstalling. This licence ends automatically if you break this agreement or the terms, or when your account is closed; we may also end it as described in the terms. When it ends, stop using the Software and uninstall it. Your own code and the data on your computer remain yours.
The sections on what the Software is not, trading risk, no warranty and liability, and your promises survive the end of this agreement.
This agreement is governed by the same law, and disputes are handled the same way, as the terms. We may change it; for a change that materially affects you we will tell you in the Software or by email before it takes effect. You may not transfer this agreement without our consent; we may transfer it, for example to a company we form to run While25.
